Good evening investor!
Markets are closed, but this weekend handed you a lot to chew on. Friday's session was basically a wash at the index level, with the S&P 500 nearly flat and the Dow nudging higher while the Nasdaq slipped about two-thirds of a percent, which tells you growth and tech are still carrying some weight heading into the new week.
The more interesting story might be what is happening beneath the surface, where peace talk hopes pulled oil prices back and gave the broader market room to breathe. That oil retreat is worth watching closely, because if it holds, the calculus on energy-linked dividend stocks gets more complicated fast.
The setup heading into Monday feels like a classic value investor's moment of patience being tested. Semiconductor names like AMD, Nvidia, and Intel are apparently testing key technical support levels, which sounds scary but historically is exactly where patient buyers have found their entry points.
Add to that a Wharton professor flagging this upcoming FOMC meeting as unusually important, and suddenly the risk picture for the week ahead snaps into focus. If you have been waiting for a cleaner read on where rates are headed and what cyclical value names deserve a second look, the next five trading days might give you exactly that.
SpaceX 'Dark Energy' Replaces Foreign Oil
For years, we've been told SpaceX is a rocket company. But according to new satellite images from 300 miles above the Earth's surface, there is something very strange going on at SpaceX right now that has nothing to do with space. It could soon replace our need for foreign oil forever and ignite a $10 trillion boom for the stocks involved.

Despite elevated valuations—UNP at 24x and ODFL at 44x earnings—I expect earnings upgrades to support further upside as the expansion unfolds.
